The Crown Estate owns land and sea beds in and around Wales. These create income for The Crown and UK Treasury, mainly from renewable energy leases.
Wales’ Crown Estate is worth over £850 million!
The UK Government and private energy companies make huge profits from assets in Welsh waters. But don’t expect to see your electricity bills cut or the profit shared with your communities.
Scotland runs its own Crown Estate. If we controlled ours, WE could STOP this offshore PIRACY.
Just think what we could do with the money?
- A Welsh Treasury could keep and use the profits in Wales
- Or invest it in coastal communities, improve housing and services
- Or nationalise the assets to create a state energy company
All profits generated in Wales should be kept in Wales to improve our own communities. ONLY an INDEPENDENT WALES can deliver this.
