On Tuesday evening (8 July), YesCymru staged a vibrant demonstration outside the Senedd in Cardiff Bay to highlight the campaign to transfer control of the Crown Estate to Wales.
During the event, Members of the Senedd were invited to sign a formal statement backing the campaign. Supporters held a large bilingual banner reading “Transfer the Crown Estate / Trosglwyddwch Ystad y Goron” and used whistles, drums, and other instruments to create a wave of sound for each signature.

Phyl Griffiths, Chair of YesCymru, said:
The people of Wales are clear – we want control over our own natural resources. Transferring the Crown Estate to Wales is a vital step on our path towards independence.
Rob Hughes, YesCymru Director and organiser of the event, added:
This campaign is about building a self-reliant nation, one that’s ready to take its place on the world stage as a confident, independent country.
The demonstration comes as momentum builds around the Crown Estate campaign, which has already secured formal support from all 22 local authorities in Wales.
At the event, 11 Members of the Senedd signed the official statement of support – nine from Plaid Cymru and two from Welsh Labour. Over the coming weeks, YesCymru will invite the remaining Senedd Members to add their names. An updated list of signatories will be published on YesCymru’s website.

The statement reads:
“We, the undersigned, support transferring control of the Crown Estate to Wales.”
